Before we talk about how you can greenify your office not only on Earth Day, but everyday, let’s take a moment to celebrate Earth Day’s 45th Anniversary. Yes, you read that correctly. Today is Earth Day’s 45th Anniversary!
On April 22, 1970, Americans from all walks of life united together to bring awareness to our nation’s desperate need to protect the environment from pollution. Earth Day’s founder, past U.S. Senator of Wisconsin, Gaylord Nelson, came up with the idea after he saw the devastating 1969 Santa Barbara, California oil spill. The First Earth Day paved a path that led to the formation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts.
